Wedding Accessories - Garters
Traditionally the garter was given to the bride by a happily married woman in the hope that her happiness in marriage would be passed on to the new bride. Wedding garters are designed with a piece of elastic which were used to hold stockings up.
These days, the tradition of tossing a wedding garter out into a crowd of single men by the groom at a wedding is a fun activity and a light-hearted custom at many contemporary weddings, it is also a tradition that is said to bring the bride and groom good luck. Another tradition of having a wedding garter is that it can be the brides “something blue” to wear at the ceremony. Almost all brides know they must have “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” in order to assure a happy marriage.
One of the longest standing wedding traditions is having the bride wear a bridal garter on her wedding day; combing this with her something blue. Sophie and Grace have a selection of wedding garters that keep this tradition alive.
